The 1st day:

I was trying to find some fresh tracks so I had a idea what and where I wanted to be. We had had fresh snow the night before so it looked like everything was a go. I picked a couple of spots for a ambush.

2nd day:

When I left my Hotel it was foggy and overcast with a few snow flurries. I got the 1st ambush spot and the weather was a little better.

Here are the 1st Elk of the day a little to far and they were going to bed so I didn't have time to try and get in closer.

A little bit further down the ridge I found another Bull same problem to far and going to bed

3rd Day:

Still a little bit of fog but much better weather when I got to the 2nd ambush spot about 1/4 mile from the 1st. Good start right after daylight I found another Bull. Pretty nice young bull but a little to

small, so I need to keep trying for a better one. Sure enough I got lucky and here comes his biger friend.

I used a cow call to get him to stop He was not really interested and

continued on to bed His little friend was more interested in finding the cow Not a bad day but not really what I was looking for so tomorrow is another day.

4th Day:

Really thick fog at daylight. I did spot a couple of elk on the far ridge but noway to get the photos I wanted in this fog I played with this photo so you can see the elk to bad they look like they would of been a couple of nice photos. Oh well I will be back this afternoon and try again.

4th Day In The Afternoon:

I went out early and the first thing I notice is they had crossed the road. I found me another good spot for a ambush, poured a cup of coffee and waited. Remember the 4 S's of Elk Hunting.

1. Sitting

2. Sipping

3. Smoking

4. Shooting

YIPEEEEEE I spotted a bull coming down the ridge thru the timber. Here is is with a close

up. A little small but the broken antler makes me want to keep this photo. A better look at

him. He turned so you can see how much antler broke off. He must have

a attitude, his #5 tine one one side and his #4 on the other is broke. Probably happened during

the rut. A better look at his broken antlers. Now that was fun I got me a keeper and it is still early so I am off to see what else I can find.

WHAT A DAY I found me another Bull. This Character is bigger and he also has a antler

problem. A closer look at him A cow call got him to look up and at me

That all folks, I hope you enjoyed going on a winter elk hunt with me. Lots of nice Bulls made it thru the 2007 season so call Mike & Maria early to book your hunt don't miss out cuz the time you want may be booked.
