HUNT SUCCESS
An Opportunity is a legal bull within range
We began archery with fair weather. The
elk continuously bugled morning and evenings, but did not respond all the
time. The best response day happened on the 15th of September and died
down again.
Rifle season began good! The rut hit strong for 3 days but we still had
trouble with the bulls coming in easily. We had 4 good snowfalls during
the season, helping "trickle" animals through. We saw a lot of good bulls
this year and harvested many, the largest scoring 330 inches. We did have
numerous misses and advise hunters to practice a lot at 200-300 yard
distances on sticks and field conditions.
Game and Fish has changed rules on bulls for this coming year. They went
back to 6" or greater branched antler. We will still try to harvest 5x5 or
better unless hunting gets slow. Then, we might lower our standard.
Booking is almost full for 2007 and already heavy for 2008 so contact us
early to reserve your landowner permit as there is a limit on the number
we get.
